Wat gebeurt er als 2 componisten uit 2 verschillende werelden met elkaar geconfronteerd worden?
De zwarte en witte toetsen van Guus Janssen en de knoppen en snoeren van Huib Emmer.
Bij zo’n confrontatie gaan we niet een heel plan maken wat we dan realiseren.
Er zijn enkele vage richtlijnen die een soort van houvast bieden maar tijdens het spelen ontstaan pas de golfbewegingen, onstaan spanning en ontspanning.
Onstaat de chemie van tonen, pulsen , ruis, het onstabiele.

March saw the release of a new cd: AGE OF FREAKS
In october I gave a lecture at the Royal Conservatory at Den Haag.
On 28th october I performed a new electronic piece Project Distant Star at the Stichting Ruimtevaart in Den Haag.
I also gave a talk about the books by Moebius , the famous comic artist from France.
2017
Composed additional electronic music for dance performance THRON– reprise from 1984- by dancegroup Christina de Chatel.
Instrumental music is by composer Patricio Wang, this version now includes electronic sections.
First performance at october 3rd at the Stadsschouwburg in Amsterdam.
15 other performances followed.
2016 revision La Perle de Sang – performances with pianist Gerard Bouwhuis at Splendor/Amsterdam november 13 and Tilburg november 15.

The new CD, entitled GREEN DESERT, contains the latest electronic soundscapes from composer, live electronic performer and guitarist Huib Emmer.
This is not a dry sandy desert, but an urban Desert of barren desolate cities that have almost been deserted by the people who lived there.
They are cities of the past and present, where streets are shattered, cinemas empty and hotels are abandoned.
All eleven pieces on the CD form a kind of storybook on this theme. They are musical stories expressed in terms of noises, tones, weird organs and grinding beats.
But even though the CD evokes a certain darkness, its sound is highly aesthetic and unpredictable.

HUIB EMMER, der jahrelang Neue Musik in Louis Andriessens Ensemble Hoketus spielte und E-Gitarre mit LOOS, hat sich inzwischen selbst als Modern Composer etabliert. Daneben präsentiert er mit dem Filmemacher Joost Van Veen im Projekt FACES eine besondere Art von Livesoundtracks; oder einen elektronischen Soundscape wie Green Desert (Z6999333). Die Arbeit legt der Phantasie das Bild und die Atmosphäre moderner Geisterstädte nahe (wie sie Thomas Glavinic in Die Arbeit der Nacht beschrieben hat). Jenseits eines dystopischen Horizontes beginnt ein postapokalyptischer Neuanfang, mit neuem Grün aus dem Beton. Doch der Mensch ist abhanden gekommen. Nur in Melodieresten und Orgelsounds sind noch seine Spuren hörbar. Die Lichter brennen noch, die Maschinen rotieren noch, aber zweckfrei und spielerisch, wenn auch irgendwie linkisch in ihrer Monotonie und pseudokomplexen Gedankenlosigkeit. Automatenstimmen sagen ihre programmierten Sprüche (‚Echo Girl‘), eine Drummachine bepulst einen Dancefloor, der nun die ganze Stadt umfasst (‚Zombie Dance‘). Mit sinkendem Licht fällt das Stimmungsbarometer ins Besinnliche (‚Nocturne‘). Doch drinnen loopen die Filme weiter, Zombiefilme, aber anders und wörtlicher als man es vermutet hätte. Schleifende Monotonie, schnarrende Geräusche, zerhackte Stimmen, pulsierende Funktionslosigkeit. Verschleiß und Brennstoffschwund lassen nur noch letzte Zuckungen von Urbanität zu, die in ihrer Selbstgenügsamkeit jedoch eine neue Art von Leichtigkeit, fast Heiterkeit entfalten, etwas ‚Apollinisches‘ (Cinema 3 Apollo‘). Emmers Cinema pour l‘oreille ist nicht zuletzt auch ein Gedankenspiel. [ba 68 rbd]
